My practice philosophy can best be described as patient centered care, rooted in quality communication and the importance of emotional and physical comfort. I always strive for a thorough explanation of all the possible treatment options so we can understand each other fully and arrive at a treatment decision together. I believe in the importance of building a foundation of trust, while still acknowledging that the dental office can be a very nervous place for many people. It always a pleasure getting to know individuals and families and following in their story, while helping them take care of a critical element of their overall health.
I began my formal education by attending the University of British Columbia Okanagan campus in my hometown of Kelowna, BC. It was there that I obtained my Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in medical biochemistry. Following this I relocated to Vancouver to attend UBC’s Nobel Biocare Oral Health Centre and obtained my Doctorate of Dental Medicine. While working as a dentist for several years on Vancouver Island, as well as now in Barrie, I continue to further my education through both Ontario & British Columbia CE courses, and enjoy expanding my skillset in our ever-advancing field.
Upon graduating dental school with my wife Amanda, we decided to begin practicing on Vancouver Island. We spent some great years there enjoying the BC coastline, hiking, and skiing. Since settling in Barrie, we have really enjoyed walking the waterfront downtown, taking in some local restaurants, and exploring the Muskoka-Simcoe area that we find ourselves lucky enough to live and work in. When we are not out exploring, you might find us at the gym, in the pool, or on the squash court.
Throughout my training, I was involved in several volunteer initiatives and this remains a passion of mine today. Amanda and I have always placed an emphasis on volunteer work, so we look forward to taking our learned craft to remote countries and providing dental treatment to those with limited access to care.
